Basra Memorial Iraq - Fallen Honoured No 1

On this day one hundred and nine years ago on the 10th March 1917, 2nd Lieutenant John George Mellish of the Wiltshire Regiment, 5th Battalion, lost his life in Iraq. Though his exact grave is unknown, Lt Mellish's name is included on the Basra Memorial on Panel 30, along with other members of the Wiltshire Regiment who lost their lives whilst serving for Great Britain in Iraq. Note that Panel 64 also holds the names of men from the Wiltshire Regiment.
