I have just started the writing process of my latest book, 'The Bootmaker's Daughter - Maid of Kent'. It is a non-fiction account of my grandmother Ethel Edith Pocock who grew up in Rochester, England. Born in 1881, she experienced a turbulent life in both the Victorian and Edwardian era, with the book covering the first forty years of her life. As part of the extensive research process I have just discovered that the building which used to be the studio of James John Eastmead (see attached studio photograph of my great-grandparents Henry Charles and Eliza Harriet Pocock) still exists in Rochester. The address under the old numbering system was 96 Eastgate but it is now 171 High Street, Rochester.
